ISTANBUL -(Dow Jones)- Turkish Economy Minister Ali Babacan said Monday that his country's talks with the International Monetary Fund on a possible new loan deal are continuing, the Ihlas News Agency, or IHA, reports.

Babacan asked journalists at a news conference in Ankara not to believe media reports about the deal unless they hear something directly from members of the government.

He said the government will announce if there are any developments.

Babacan's comments follow a newspaper report last week, saying that Turkey's negotiations with the IMF will continue until May.

Babacan also said legal preparations for a new fiscal law will be completed in the next few months. The law will fit in with the goverment's medium-term economic targets for 2011 and 2012, he said.
